In the Spotlight - Coast Shelter and the HCM

Here we are on this humid Thursday night, two sleeps away from our first market of the year and Easter is upon us.

Tonight we will be delving into the organisation that the Handmade Craft Market is supporting this weekend. All of the gold coins taken on entry to the market will be given to Coast Shelter - each market  a different charity, cause, group or organisation is chosen to be the recipient of the donation.

Coast Shelter provide vital services to the homeless on the Central Coast and have done so since 1992. To help people avoid homelessness Coast Shelter offers six refuges, a brokerage service, a transitional accommodation program and a community centre which provides all involved with free meals and practical assistance.

Coast Shelter is a not for profit organisation which rely on the generosity and support from various community groups, Gosford City Council, Centrelink, church groups and corporate sponsors.

For more information on Coast Shelter visit www.coastshelter.org.au, phone (02) 4325 3540 or email admin@coastshelter.org.au

The Handmade Craft Market's events business Handmade & Boutique Events is on a roll with the 'Pop Up' markets and outdoor boutique markets that have been happening right here on the Central Coast. The next few are located at Erina Fair with trading twice a month - four days in Centre Court and the 3rd Saturday of the month in The Hive. This is a great way to taste test the shopping centre retail market for your own business. For more information email melissa@handmadeandboutique.com.au

The Handmade Craft market continues its charitable works, strives to present the best and brightest of the Coast's designers, craftspeople and creative folk. Fans of the HCM are scattered across Australia and the world - with many of those international fans bemoaning the fact they can't get here to see us all in person but are happy to support us through social media.

In the Spotlight - Frankenstein's Fabrics

As the market draws ever closer and the stallholders finish items and start to pack boxes and tubs...

I'm Marni from Frankenstein's Fabrics. I started my shop to bring patchwork and quilting supplies to the Central Coast. I stock fabrics, notions, kits and haberdashery along with providing a quilting service. I also have gift vouchers for when you need to give someone a crafty gift but are unsure of what they would want. I run classes in an assortment of styles, techniques and projects including "The Help Class" which allows you to bring along your own project and pick my brain for guidance. You can order a custom quilt from me - a good way to purchase a quilt that is 'you'.

There are lots of different things going on at the shop all the time so if you are interested stay in touch and discover something new, remember something old and best of all make friends.

Come and see me at the Handmade Craft Market this Easter long weekend.

In the Spotlight - Shadow Lust Designs

Welcome to the first of the stallholder sneak peeks for the Handmade Craft Market 2013.

Our first market for the year is on the 30th of March, over the Easter long weekend so there'll be plenty of goings on, things to celebrate and a whole lot of handmade goodness showcased on the day.

Our first sneaky look is at Shadow Lust Designs.

For those of you who love jewellery that is a tad on the macabre side just wait until you see these amazing pieces. Featuring skulls, bats, coffins, zombies and other elements of the supernatural genre, Rebecca creates pieces that are creepy, but classy, with a dash of funky colour to contrast with the horror themes. Some of her designs include rings, pendants, earrings and necklaces - her work is ghoulish fun and just a little tongue in cheek.

Whoever said horror couldn't be fashionable?
